Scotts Creek

Scotts Creek residents approved for Solar

Here are the details on solar for Scotts Creek. The board has approved solar panels for the rear roof of any home in the neighborhood. Any projects still have to be submitted for ARB approval.

Why look into Solar?

Right now, we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to take control of our own energy. This opportunity if finite and it should viability will decrease in the coming years.

When you purchase from a monopoly, the only party that wins is the monopoly. SCE&G has increased rates by more than 50% on our energy in the last 10 years. We just received the 8th increase in a row and there is no end in sight.

Installing a solar system allows you to collect FREE energy from the sun and sell it back to SCE&G at Full Retail Prices. If you can sell something at retail, you should sell it at retail! By selling excess energy you collect to SCE&G, you can cancel out the same amount of energy you would normally purchase. This puts you on a level playing field and dollar-for-dollar exchange with the power company.

Solar does NOT create a new expense, it replaces one. All you do is reallocate money you will already be paying for energy towards an asset that you will own.  When you make your last solar hardware payment, your will be finished paying for the electricity your system generats for FREE.

Is solar expensive?

This is a common myth I want to dispel. When solar is a good fit, it will cost about the same as what your current electricity cost.

Current purchase programs include $0 cost upfront out of pocket and monthly payments that mimic your electric payment over a period of time.

Is Solar a fit for me?

Unfortunately solar will not be a good fit for everyone in the neighborhood. South Carolina Solar will help you determine if solar is a fit for you. Consideration will include; roof direction, energy consumption and qualification for federal & state solar incentives.

Do you offer a free estimate?

Yes! South Carolina Solar will look at your roof and other factors and have a solar array design created for you at NO cost. We will also complete a full financial analysis which will show you the numbers in black and white. If it looks like a good fit, we can call to schedule a meeting to go over our findings with you and answer any of your questions.

Im interested, what do we do next?

The first step in determining if solar make sense for you will be for us to look at you 12 month consumption average. Its easy to get this information by logging into your SCE&G online account and selecting the energy analyzer. From this menu, you can down load a report in PDF and email it directly to us with your address and contact information. You can also call SCE&G and ask them for your last 12 months usage in KwH (kilowatt hours).

Why South Carolina Solar?

South Carolina Solar is a local company owned by Sean Sullivan. Sean has been in business in SC for almost two decades and also has a low voltage and technology business that services homeowners, builder and business throughout the Low Country. Our technology business has also done work in your neighborhood for a number of residences which all give us great reviews.

There are many Solar companies that have opened up in SC because of our incredible state incentives. These companies will be gone as soon as the state incentives run out. Some do NOT have a vested interest in our community and some of the installations are not up to par.  Focus is placed on quantity and not quality.

South Carolina Solar pays close attention to detail and goes above and beyond to make the appearance of the install aesthetically pleasing. Here are some examples of some of our installs: South Carolina Solar’s Installs

    Santee Cooper Solar Incentive

Santee Cooper Solar Incentive, best in SC!Santee Cooper Solar Incentive

Homeowners who live in a Santee Cooper service area should pay close attention to this announcement. The Santee Cooper Solar Incentive that was recently approved in 2017 has made it the most attractive utility incentive in the state. For a limited time, when you switch to solar energy for your home, Santee Cooper will pay you an early adopter incentive of $1.60 per installed watt of solar energy to a maximum total payout of $9,600.00. This is no joke!

It’s almost too good to be true.

    Here is how the incentive works;

    1. Have a solar energy system installed at your home
    2. Receive $1.60 per installed watt up to a maximum of 6 kW (AC) or $9,600.
    3. Receive a check from the utility 30-45 days after installation

    Why would they offer this?

1- Santee Cooper is the largest supplier of power in our state. They are an environmentally conscience company and believe in green, renewable energy.

2- Federal mandates require energy producers to shift a portion of their energy production to renewables by year 2020. Its simple math… they have to have these renewables and its cheaper for them to pay a small amount to homeowners versus spending millions to build mega solar farms.

    Wait…there is more!

Federal and State Solar Tax Credits will cover 55% of the cost of your system. Our current program offers $0 cost upfront for equipment purchase and installation. Solar loan programs spread low monthly payments out over time to be just like paying a power bill.  There are multiple options available and someone from South Carolina Solar will be happy to discuss these options with you and see which one is the best fit for you.

There are three reasons to act now:

    1. Santee Cooper approved customer rate increases for electricity which started in 2016 and are set to continue through 2021. Some experts suggest that the rate in 2020 could be higher than the rate today.
    2. The Santee Cooper Solar Incentive could be eliminated or change when the utility reaches its target adoption numbers for solar.
    3. The first 500 clients who switch to solar will also qualify for an additional payment incentive for excess energy.

Don’t let a once in a lifetime opportunity pass you by. When you switch to solar, you are able to sell excess energy back to the grid.
